Another vintage French photo with a twist. One of the 50 4-6-0s built to the Scottish Highland Railway 'Castle' class design by the North British Locomotive Co., in 1911 for the French ETAT railway, stands in Acheres station with a Paris to Mantes train. Note the two double deck carriages in the middle of the train and the gaurds compartment on the roof of others. (Negative from the late O.J. Morris but it is uncertain if he took the photo) |
