Red, blue, green, and yellow Alcos drag the daily freight past the scale house and into the Lake State's Alpena yard. The Lake State has committed to getting rid of the Alco fleet, and within a stone's throw of this photo location, two more M420's were being cut up. Consists like this are rare already, and will only become more rare.
Coal and steel don't go bad. This album features long, slow, heavy freight trains; drag freights, slop freights, dead freights, etc. Trains with lots of power, and lots of different cargo slogging along behind.
