| The old Milwaukee Road M&P branch from Portage to Madison climbs out of the Wisconsin River valley for the first 16 miles. Then, it traverses the undulating rolling hills of northern Dane Co. before dropping down into the lakes area of Madison at MP 32. This CP detour powered by a pair of AC4400's, including the 9714 still wired for the Holiday train, has no problem handling this full tonnage road train over it. |
