Remarks & Notes
Wales is justly famous for its 'great little trains', the collective term for the many narrow gauge railways that are scattered throughout the Principality. Making a truly delicious sight in the station yard at Llanfair Caereinion is No 14. She was built by Hunslet of Leeds in 1954, the last of 32 similar 2-6-2 tank locos supplied to the Sierra Leone Government Railways. In 1975 the engine was rescued from the torch and returned from West Africa to a new life on the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway. A special prize goes to any non-UK viewer who can pronounce 'Llanfair Caereinion' correctly!
