Canklow MPD was on the south side of Rotherham about three miles out of the city, close to where junction 33 of the M1 motorway is now located. I only visited a couple of times, but this typical ex-Midland Railway roundhouse remains etched in my memory. Sadly, Canklow is now history but another Midland 'cathedral of steam' survives for posterity at Barrow Hill some 30 miles south of Canklow.
