By any standards, Water Arc between Grosmont and Goathland, is one of the finest railway locations in Britain. On a lovely, warm spring afternoon and with the May blossom in full bloom, the 'K1' climbs steadily uphill. She has another mile of the 1 in 49 gradient before reaching Goathland where her crew will be glad of a brief rest before continuing towards Pickering.
