| Arriving downtown Richmond, motorists pass through the flood wall. The large gate beneath the locos can slide across the road to fill the hole in the wall and protect the city from the James River (at the photographer's back) in the event of a flood. This flood wall forms a partial circle around lower downtown. Oddly, a canal is just inside. |
