Illinois & Midland SD18 number 61 arrives Springfield, Illinois on Saturday afternoon, December 30th, 2007 after a run from Pekin, Illinois.
I&M 61 and sister unit 60 are equipped with dual control stands, so the engineer can be seen on the left side of the cab. A former Peoria & Pekin Union Railway GP35CAT, 2000, is in the background, parked out of service alongside the engine house which Genesee & Wyoming closed in favor of doing all diesel repairs at Creve Couer, Illinois. Sister G&W owned affiliate Tazewell & Peoria Railway uses the former P&PU shops in Creve Couer for all diesel repairs for both roads.
