Remarks & Notes
British Railways 40 071 is an English Electric Class 40, 2,000hp diesel-electric built in the late 1950s for Eastern Region passenger and freight work. Built as No. D271 it was renumbered to 40 071 in 1974. These locos were the first 2,000 hp locos in the UK and the mainstay of passenger work for many years. Viewed at Ely station. (Thanks to Colin Marsden for the info.)
