Remarks & Notes
The soundbound Alaska Railroad Glacier Discovery Train has just passed through the Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel which, at 2.5 miles in length, is the longest combined highway/rail tunnel in North America. Headed up by sparking clean SD70MAC-HEP #4317, the train will soon make a station stop in the port city of Whittier, then head back toward Portage led by RDC-2 #711. Northbound vehicular traffic can be seen lining up, waiting its turn to head back through the tunnel toward the Seward Highway.
