Union Pacific extra unit train UWCCOX08 makes a U-turn on the balloon track at 4:45p. Train was solid empty center beams with the exception of one boxcar. This rather rare extra train headed west on the Alhambra Sub and then up the Coast Line, hitting Oxnard 10:15a the next morning, 114 miles in 16 hours and 15 minutes, for an average speed of 8.6 MPH. Dash 8 #9487 was delivered from Erie in September of 1993 and is a 4,135 HP GE C41-8W.
