On October 26, 2005, the final trio of C&NW engines (8701, 8646, 8575) were put together for a "lap" from Proviso to Valley Park via Milwaukee and the Adams Line on MPRVP. From Valley Park, they headed to Des Moines via the Fairmont Sub and Mason City. Finally, they headed back to Proviso on MDMPR. Here they rest at the Butler diesel shop. They departed around 1400 and drew a gang of chasers trackside until dusk hit at Clyman Jct.
