Remarks & Notes |
Amtrak's northbound CRESCENT, just a minute or so after leaving NOUPT, leaves the NOUPT track and enters the NS "Back Belt" mainline on a Sunday morning as a southbound NS freight that will soon become a westbound UP freight holds the opposing main. The track veering of to the left in the foreground is the Bernadotte Line, which once went as far as Basin Street in Tremé, but has only one customer nearby. Prior to the construction of the NOUPT track in the back in the 1950s, the Southern CRESCENT used the Bernadotte Line to get to Southern's station on Basin Street. |
