Saint Louis-San Francisco GP38-2 415 and a trio of GE U-boats play tag with summer clouds near Hebron, north of Dallas, on Juy 14, 1979. Frisco, like many other roads, likes the GP38-2’s for their easy maintenance and reliability, and purchased 117 of the 2,000-hp units between March of 1972 and December, 1976. Almost all will make it onto the Burlington Northern roster when that road acquires Frisco in 1980, and decades later many will still be at work.
