Remarks & Notes

In what almost looks like a GP30 gaining ground on a Kenworth is actually Rio Grande No. 3011 being trucked through a temporary gap in the fencing at the Colorado Railroad Museum on August 11, 2004. With no outside rail connection, the locomotive was temporarily stored at the Coors Brewery complex nearby, which has its own railroad, and then trucked the short distance to the museum. In this view the locomotive finally arrives crossing museum trackage and will be lined up with the dual-gauge track underneath the Kenworth’s front tires for unloading. OmniTrax graciously donated the Rio Grande locomotive to CRM; it’s going to take a bit of work to get the 3011 restored, but it will make a great display of second-generation Rio Grande motive power when finished.
