| A southbound CSX loaded coal train rolls across Ivydale on a bitterly cold winter morning. The community of Ivydale used to be served by both the L&N and the Southern, which had a branch that ran at creek-level into the holler. The most visible remnants of this branch are the small bridge abutments visible at the lower left of the photo. Nowadays, the Cumberland Trail has made use of the right-of-way of the branch for a short distance. |
