Remarks & Notes
A CNW freight from Minneapolis arrives at Altoona, WI yard for a crew change and some switching. As it approaches the depot, it passes by a string of yellow and green ice bunker reefers stored for potato service in northwestern Wisconsin. The SD40s were some of the first CNW units equipped with the low-nose mounted gong bell that became a trademark of the railroad for the next 15 years or more.
