Remarks & Notes
Goooood Morning Port Clinton! The quiet calm of a frigid winter morning in the tiny hamlet of Port Clinton, Pennsylvania is suddenly broken by the staccato bark of the Reading & Northern's light Pacific #425 as she begins the first run-by of a 2-day Lerro Productions Photo Charter. With just a 4-car commuter consist behind her, and the yard cleared of all traffic, the "Four-and-a-Quarter" accelerates to track speed in short order, blowing by the photographers at 30 mph just moments after this photo was taken. During this quick run-by, the assembled photographers get their first taste of the sights and sounds of one of the most impressive steam engines in the Eastern US. Some of us also learn very quickly that the 1/250th or 1/320th shutter speeds that one might get away with in low light on most tourist railroads are not going to cut it here.
