Who's that 6 year-old railfan? That's me armed with the Instamatic camera and Kodachrome film (yes, they made Kodachrome for Instamatics). By 1976, I would move up to a single-lens reflex. My father had already hooked me on the hobby, and I was his railfan sidekick for decades. I recall that I complained to my father that I kept missing the shot when the RS-3s were smoking. The crew heard me and immediately opened up the RS-3s, which I nearly missed again. R.T. Steinbrenner photo.
