Peacefully simmering under a full moon lit sky, Rio Grande K-36 #489 sits at the head of a eastbound manifest at the Chama coaling tower, awaiting a highball to tackle the 10,000' Cumbres Pass on a chilly evening back in the 1950s…..or is it? In truth it is 2015 and DRGW 489, now owned and maintained by the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, is being used for a photo night secession. The following day Cumbres Pass would bare witness to a triple headed photo freight as put on by Chama Steam.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
