Norfolk Southern intermodal train 224 crosses Swamp Creek, nearing Dalton, Georgia, on the first leg of their run from Atlanta to Kansas City. The Southern Railway heritage unit is right at home here, on the former Atlanta North district Southern mainline. Swamp Creek is usually a shallow trickle, but recent heavy rainfalls in the Southeast has brought many of the creeks and rivers to flood levels. Photo by Casey Thomason. A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
