Remarks & Notes

This special track work at the CN Joliet yard certainly lives up to its name. Instead of using the traditional type of turnout for their yard ladder, this portion of the yard uses overlapping turnouts which as the name implies puts two turnouts in nearly the same amount of space as a typical one. This unique turnout arrangement helps to establish more yard tracks in a narrower footprint than would otherwise be possible.
