Remarks & Notes
As the head end of westbound BNSF MDENSTO approaches Tunnel 1 in the background, two Burlington Northern EMD SD40-2s push hard on the rear of the train that just cleared Blue Mountain Drive grade crossing west of Clay, Colorado, on January 2, 2001. The train is looping over the mouth of Coal Creek Canyon at milepost 23 on former Rio Grande, now Union Pacific’s Moffat Tunnel Subdivision.
