I had about half a day to spend in the Salt Lake City area, but with the short daylight hours this time of the year that’s not a whole lot of time. So I took off west and then south of the city for the stretch of track south of the town of Tooele, Utah. This is the UP’s access from the central corridor route to Southern California. It’s the old Los Angeles & Salt Lake RR. It was not busy yesterday; 4 hours spent trackside and only two trains. Naturally I was completely out of position for a shot of one of them, but I managed to bag this westbound stacker at Faust Siding. It’s the ISCLB-22. That snow capped peak in the background is the highest point in the Stansbury Range; Deseret Peak at 11,035’.
