The ex-DRGW 484 and 489 head a 35 car train west from Antonito with the sun just over the horizon. This was a Historic Transport Preservation (Steam Specials) charter. The fact so many freight cars are serviceable is a testament to the vision and hard work of the Friends of the C&TS who collect, restore, and maintain these former DRGW cars. Most of these cars have not seen revenue service since 1968 (or before), and some were scattered as far away as Alaska.
