| Former Deutsche Bundesbahn "Pacific" steamlocomotive 01 202 is 40 years in Switzerland now, after withdrawn from service in the Bw Hof in 1975. Werner Bühlmann from Münsingen started with renovation, most alone. Since 1991, association "Pacific 01 202" in Lyss is responsible for the locomotive. She is doubtless the best kept of all the 01 series. The 40 years in Switzerland were celebrated by a special train with 7 cars from Lyss via Ostermundigen-Konolfingen-Langnau-Entlebuch to Lucerne, with a paddle steamer journey with DS "Unterwalden" on the Lake of Lucerne and a run back home via Arth Goldau-Rotkreuz-Lenzburg-Olten-Biel VL to Lyss. The train is tackling the 1.8 % grade up to Escholzmatt near Wiggen. |
