Water, fuel, sand –- essential to keep the wheels rolling. Here on an October evening one of a handful of workers at the Argentine engine terminal service rack supplies water to a Santa Fe PA-1 probably being readied for evening departure on the San Francisco Chief. By 1965, train 1 (westbound) and its eastbound counterpart and the Fast Mail Express are some of the last Santa Fe passenger runs still assigned to the big Alcos.
