Remarks & Notes
Man vs. Machine On Saturday, September 26th, Grand Canyon Railway's steam locomotive #4960 competed in a race against cyclists to see who can go from the Grand Canyon to Williams the fastest. Of course, 19th century technology was the dominant of the two modes of transportation. 4960 had such a led, they had to stop outside of Williams to let the cyclists catch up. Here, the 2-8-2 steam locomotive is seen working hard up the grade at Quivero, just 20 miles north of Williams.
