The tramway in Halberstadt, a town of 40,000 people in the former East Germany, is remarkable for having survived - to this day. In 1993, fearing that most of the small eastern German town tramways would soon succumb to the rapid move to a market economy, the LRTL organized a tour to view the remaining systems. The Gotha two-axle car was built as late as 1966 and no longer runs although internet information indicates that No. 30 remains on the property as a childrens' car.
