Remarks & Notes
The Vale of Rheidol Railway was the last steam powered railway owned by former British Rail. Steam traction ceased on BR network in 1968 - except of this little railway in Wales. The line's only purpose was since the 1920'ies carrying tourists from Aberystwyth to Devil's bridge and steam traction helped to generate more tourists. Much of the scenic line through the valley run on a 2% gradient so the locomotives have to work hard to get to the terminus station at Devil's Bridge. Here #9 has reached it in a view moments and the passengers then have the chance to get a glimpse look on the Devil's Bridge and the adjacent waterfalls.
