Remarks & Notes
Early October, 1964, word is out among Denver railfans that something new is coming to town. Fresh off the GE erecting floor at Erie, Pennsylvania, four of Burlington’s new U25Bs are making their first trip west, just crossing the Platte River bridge to arrive at 38th Street. Traditionally loyal to online EMD, the Q has broken the pattern to sample six of the new 2,500-hp units, and will go on to become a steady GE customer, purchasing U28 and U30Bs, and U23, U25, and U28Cs. The 100 is the third Burlington diesel -- after a 30-ton Mack shunter and an FT -- to bear the number 100.
