Remarks & Notes
Steamtown's initial operation had several operational challenges. The biggest was the lack of a runaround track at the end of the track in Elmhurst. The early trains operated to Elmhurst, and backed down to Scranton, as shown here drifting west out of Nay Aug tunnel. Later trains would operate with a diesel tucked behind 2317. At Elmhurst, 2317 would be put in a siding, the diesel would pull the train clear, and 2317 would couple to the other end of the train to pull it back to Scranton. Eventually a passing siding was completed at Elmhurst.
