Remarks & Notes
The Reading's Perkiomen Branch, which diverted from the main line at Perkiomen Junction, near Valley Forge, rejoined the East Penn branch at Emmaus Junction, providing a short cut between Philadelphia and Allentown that bypassed Reading. In the 1970's, the line was removed between Red Hill and Oaks, leaving two stub-end branches to be served from either end. In the 1980's, the northern end between Red Hill and Emmaus Junction was spun off by Conrail, initially operated by the Anthracite Railway. This is one of a series of excursions with an ex-Amtrak SW1 for power, shown passing the one-time Reading water tank base at Powder Valley.
