Remarks & Notes
Alabama Division local train number A41 crosses the Chattahoochee River as it rolls back in to Columbus, Georgia, with loads of wood chips from a mill in Salem, Alabama. SD40-2 number 3529 was part of a batch of units acquired by NS about a year ago, which required the fleet of B32-8's to be renumbered from their 3500-series numbers, simply removing the "3" and retaining their last three digits. This photo illustrates why that renumbering was required, as the trailing unit is B32-8 number 529, formerly 3529, the number now held by the lead unit in this consist. Photo by Casey Thomason.
