"You would have thought they was running at about 40mph!" On this Hot humid July morning, TVRM train #300 was slowly making its way down the Chattanooga Belt Line heading for 23rd St. where they would be meeting the G&W pilot before continuing its long journey to Chickumage, GA. The train was being pulled by Southern Rwy 2594 which is on a "long term lease" from Southeastern Railway Museum. These sharp 2,250hp locomotive stood the test of time as a durable locomotive during the 1960s all the up to its retirement date. Even up to this day Sou 2594 kens are still being use on mainline railway like BNSF, and short-line railroad's other GP 30s has been rebuilt into Slug unit as we see them on railroad like CSX.
Selected photos of locomotives, passenger cars, and rolling stock in the Southern's livery as well as other assets once belonging to or used by the Southern.
