Soo Line only owned two SD39s, and both of them were at the Belt Railway of Chicago's Clearing Yard in Bedford Park, Illinois, on September 21st, 1997. Built by EMD in October 1968 as Minneapolis Northfield & Southern 40 and 41, they became Soo Line 6240 and 6241 when the Soo merged with the MNS in 1986.
