Early Morning Departure
The SU-99 is running uncharacteristically early as it crosses Overpeck Creek just after 10:00 in the morning. While its rare to catch its Eastbound counterpart in morning light, a scene like this only happens once in a blue moon. To the demise of many railfans planning to chase on the Southern Tier, the drawbar on a tank car mid-train would break only an hour into the run. The train was then dragged back to Ridgefield Park by a local crew to allow the crew time to rest and try again the following morning. |
