Once a critical power supply to Metro Detroit, the end has come for the Detroit Edison Bunce Plant in Marysville, MI. Started in 1914, the coal fired giant was put online in 1922, and after several upgrades to the plant in the late 20's and 40's, the plant could generate up to 300 MW of power. After being idled twice, once in 1988, and again in 2001, the final shutdown was made in 2012, and with the land sold, demolition has begun, so, for the time being, crews onboard CSX D710 will get to see the demise of the plant before their eyes, and unfortunately get to see the end of an era in Michigan power generation.
