Remarks & Notes

A “Grande gold” line up of 3-foot narrow gauge diesel locomotives sit outside the roundhouse at the Colorado Railroad Museum on October 8, 2003. Left to right are Georgetown Loop (Georgetown, Breckenridge & Leadville) No. 140 and sister GB&L No. 130, both former U.S. Gypsum GE U4 52-tonners. Next is Rio Grande No. 50, a Davenport Locomotive Works 30-ton locomotive built in 1937, then on shop trucks, but operable today. GB&L No. 15 is a 47-ton GE originally built for Oahu Railway in Hawaii. Finally is the Golden City and San Juan No. 3, a 8-ton Plymouth FL also originally built for U.S. Gypsum and affectionally known around the museum as Pee Wee. All locomotives in this view with the exception of No. 50 were recently repainted in bright Rio Grande gold and black in 2003.
