| Gorge Siding - After exiting the east portal of Tunnel 7 and traveling another half mile or so, one comes around a bend in the track and is presented with this view of three "Societe de Transport de la Communaute Urbaine de Montreal" cars sitting on Carrizo Gorge Siding at MP 98.7.
To the left just beyond the end of the third car is where the west portal of the abandon Tunnel 8 was once located before it caved in and the hillside slid down to cover it.
The overall movement of the hillside is evident by the large crack in the substrate above the siding to the right.
Eventually, this entire hill side will break off and fall into the gorge below. |
