Went out this morning to capture a photograph of another late Capital Limited #30, but in the process of doing so a freight train blocked Amtrak from my sight. Caught Norfolk Southern #9418 climbing the grade to Highland Cut just outside New Galilee, Pennsylvania pulling a heavy freight train. While standing here, I could not see the train but could hear the horn blowing in the distance with nature surrounding me and birds chirping. Combine that and the shear power of it rumbling the ground and just the sound of horsepower hard at work was just mystical. Then it appeared out of the woods, and this shot really made me realize how powerful and huge locomotives really are.
