| Southern 2-8-0 #401 simmers at Nelson Crossing preparing for the first run of the day. Each day of operation, the engine pulls out of the engine house and pauses just past the depot stopping next to a pavilion which houses an extensive collection of the Museum's rolling stock. After passengers board, SOU #401 will pull the excursion north on former Illinois Terminal tracks before before returning on former parallel IC tracks pushing south to downtown Monticello arriving at a relocated Wabash depot. After a short break, she'll return to this spot and repeat the excursion twice more. |
