Remarks & Notes
A Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge train heads north through Trimble south of Hermosa, Colorado, on the morning of August 22, 2003. Mikado K-28 No. 473 is decked out in colorful 1950s “Bumblebee” movie paint specially for D&SNG’s Railfest celebration in 2003. Above the train are visual remains of the devastating June 2002 Missionary Ridge Fire that scorched 71,739 acres, caused 1 death and 52 injuries, and burned 56 structures—and is the third largest wildfire in Colorado history.
