| The PLM 1ABBA1 Electric DC locomotive 161 BE 3 with pantographs and side rail pickups has been built in 1927 by Thomson Houston/Schneider. The locomotive consists of two parts, each part has two bogies, but only six of the eight axles have motors. This class of locomotives was used in the Maurienne on the mountain line between Culoz - Chambéry and Modane. The locomotives have been withdrawn from active service beginning of the seventies. |
