Crews from Hulcher and R.J. Corman unload more track panels with side boom caterpillars at a wreck site at Lakeside, Nebraska, on BNSF’s Sand Hills Subdivision. The derailment happened on May 17, 2006, when an eastbound BNSF coal train led by No. 8814 ran an intermediate signal with a red aspect and plowed into the rear of another coal load, with obvious results. The trailing locomotive of the train, along with a rear DPU on the train hit, were also damaged, along with seven hoppers that also derailed and were destroyed.
