Remarks & Notes
Built in 1956 by Alsthom and Ateliers et Forges de la Loire, the CC 65001 is one of the first big mainline diesel engines running in France. The CC 65000 locomotives were the first to wear the standard blue livery for diesel locomotives. 20 units were built and they remained in service until 1988. The class CC65000 was nicknamed "submarines" due to their unusual shape. Note the front door which allowed to walk from the locomotive into the first coach of a train, or another coupled locomotive.
