Remarks & Notes

Inside the cab of DM&IR 2-10-2 No. 506, a "Santa Fe" type originally built for the Duluth, Missabe & Northern. This was the first E-1 class 2-10-2 built for the railroad in 1919, one of ten authorized by the USRA that year and built for the railroad by the American Locomotive Company. No. 506 last steamed in 1963 in ore thawing service.
