The sun has long since set but the show must go on. A Proctor Road Switch crew works on dumping their train with the help of the dock crew while the Mesabi Miner takes on a load of iron ore pellets. The Mesabi Miner would finish loading and depart at 03:32 while the PRS job would finish dumping the train and head back to Proctor to fetch another train of pellets for a return trip down the hill to fill another boat. Also working the overnight shift is a BNSF coal train across the river that is dumping it's cargo at the MERC facility.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
Photographs where trains and people mix, weather it's street running, plant switching or carrying a unit grain train out of an elevator, it will be put here.
