Remarks & Notes
The turret of the former Jersey Central Mauch Chunk (Jim Thorpe) station looms over the newly-restored 1554 on the weekend of the RS3's dedication. The 1554 played a big part in the CNJ's retrenchment from Pennsylvania. Not only did it lead the last passenger train out of Allentown, it also powered the funeral (cleanup) train when the Jersey Central pulled out of the Keystone State for good in 1972. At the throttle is Jonathan Reck, president of Hawk Mountain Chapter, NRHS. Hawk Mountain bought and restored the 1554.

A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
