Remarks & Notes
Welcome to Atlanta! NS GP33ECO #4715 makes its first appearance in its new hometown as it leads Piedmont Division local P76 towards Inman Yard. The midtown skyline can be seen in the distance, including a bit of Norfolk Southern's David R. Goode headquarters building. 4715 was towed on several different trains from Altoona, and delivered early in the morning to the satellite yard in Chamblee on train 348 from Linwood. One of P76's duties this afternoon was to move train 347's inbound power from Chattanooga, as well as 4715, which all needed to be delivered to the diesel shop at Inman Yard. Since 347's rear motor (8377) was long-hood forward, 4715 was given its first assignment in the Atlanta area, leading the light engine move from Chamblee to Inman. Additional GP33ECO's will soon join the local power fleet and the green wave will become a common sight around Atlanta. Photo by Casey Thomason.
